This is the place where humans should live on Mars || Landing Site 2

Image
Well guys thank you for landing here on my Mars Colonization Blog and this post is about where humans should built there base camps on the planet of Mars which can become habitable after doing some terraforming on the planet allowing plants to grow and humans to live there. For first proposed landing site post click here Well in the 2nd landing site on a Mars mission if humans cannot land on the Utopia Planitia region of Mars that is our first proposed landing site then the second landing site can be Hellas Planitia region of Mars at   42'S 70° 00'E on the planet of Mars which is a vast impact basin and the one of the largest known craters in the solar system. The Hellas Plantia has glaciers of water ice in the eastern region of the crater as suggested by the  Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter's SHARAD radar and this is a plus point and this water ice can be used for drinking by the astronauts and also for watering the plants which in turn will produce oxygen inside the Habit...

Here's A Way To Protect Humans On Mars

Image
Well In the last post   we talked about the deadly radiation on the planet Mars  but after a long research we finally found a way to save astronauts from the radiation on Mars or on a manned mission to mars                                       Image credit: NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory/JSC Well after further reading and understanding the Mars Cosmic Ray Environment Map and radiation dosage map(pictured above) I found that the estimated no of time a cell nucleus would be hit by high energy cosmic ray particle ranged from 2 to 8. The lesser hits like 2 or 3 per year were moderate and 7 or 8 hits meant high risk but one thing I noticed was that the region of Utopia Plantia and the Tharsis Montes where the elevations are very low around -5000 to -7000 were in the map but the estimated no of time a cell nucleus would be hit by high energy cosmic ray particle was not given for...

No Post Today

Hey,Guys I am deeply saddened by the death of Sir Stephen Hawking who made Astrophysics accessible to the people by writing books like"A brief history of time" in an easy language that explained the universe in a very easy language and have decided to not write a blog post on Mars Colonization today, the next post will be published tommorow at or before 20 Hrs IST. Rest In Peace Stephen Hawking

How deadly is the radiation on Mars

Image
In the previous post we talked about in whichregion of Mars should astronauts live but in this post we will talk aboutRadiation on Planet mars. Well as Mars has a thin atmosphere and no belts like van Allen Belts on earththere is very high radiation on planet Mars which can increase the risk ofcancer on Mars but how much chances of cancer would be there on Mars ? How much radiation does mars receive ? Well radiation on Mars differs from region to region the best thing is that theUtopia Plantia where we think the astronauts should build their base campsreceives the lowest radiation 10 rems per year as you can see in this  radiation mapmesurements by the Mars radiation environment experiment, an instrument onNASA's Mars 2000 Odyssey spacecraft, plus information about Mars' surfaceelevations from the laser altimeter instrument on NASA's Mars Global Surveyor    below  which is equal to the radiation received by astronauts in 6 monthsInternational Space Station. Howe...

Where should first crew on Mars should live

Image
Well where should first crew on Mars should live i.e. where should we build the base camps on Mars ? Well I think the base camps for the first crew should be built in the region of Utopia Plantia which is the largest impact basin on the planet Mars.                                                                      Mars But why in Utopia Plantia ?                                                           Ice In Utopia Plantia Well there is a huge amount of underground ice in the region of Utopia Plantia the volume of ice is equivalent to the volume of water in Lake Superior which is 12100 km^2 and the underground water could be used by the astronauts that will go on ...

Challenges in Mars Colonization

There are a number of challenges we have to overcome if we want to colonize Mars Food Well One of the basic requirement to be alive on Mars would be food as astronauts cannot take a lot of food with them to planet Mars, They have to create food on Mars.In the Movie "The Martian" grew potatoes in a controlled environment in the Martian Soil though Martian soil contains the basic nutrients required for a plant's growth  and most importantly water and if you will heat one cubic feet of martian soil then you will get one liter of water. Oxygen Oxygen is vital for human survival and Martian atmosphere contain just 0.13% oxygen on the planet Mars so we need to create oxygen on planet Mars maybe it can be created by using cynobacteria which first created oxygen n earth. Water A human can survive for several days without food but not without water but is there enough water on Mars ? Well it is trapped in the poles of Mars,Water ice equal to the volume of lake superior is in the U...

Why it is necessary to colonize Mars ?

Image
Well humans interest towards Mars is not new once it was believed that there were canals and martins(natives of mars, people of mars) on Mars but however that was a misconception but in the year of 1952 Dr Wernher Von Braun published a science fiction book Das Marsprojekt about a manned mission to the planet Mars  with a provisional launch date of 1965 however by the 1969 humans have only reached the moon but the interest towards mars never died and the with the advancements in the technology we now know better about Mars and now we have set plans to colonize the planet Mars. But why is colonization necessary ?   Well because it may serve as a backup planet for example if there is any natural disaster on the planet earth for example a huge meteoroid hitting the planet of earth then if we have technology for interplanetary travel plus another colonized planet other than earth then mankind can save itself from dying and can exist forever.  But why Mars ? Well Mars ...
